We are a not for profit organisation based in Chorlton, South Manchester that offers affordable counselling and psychotherapy including low-cost sessions to people on limited incomes or means-tested benefits.
Over the last 10 years we have supported over 50 counsellors and therapists to establish and grow their services and together we have offered just under 6,000 affordable sessions of therapy to people who otherwise would not have been able to afford it, a community contribution equivalent to £115,000.
Our rooms are quiet, comfortable and safe, providing an ideal environment for therapies of different types from psychodynamic to CBT and person-centred. Our therapists are diverse in approach and style of therapy offered, and all are fully qualified, insured and members of professional bodies such as BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) or UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and work to the high standards expected and required by our clients.
We are committed to our values of quality, respect and integrity and our aims have remained the same over the past 10 years – to support and empower individuals by providing an ethical, professional and accessible service. As a business we are self-sustaining and don’t rely on any public money or charitable grants. We achieve this by renting out therapy rooms to independent therapists and then, in return for charging rent that is set significantly below market value, we ask them to offer some sessions at reduced rates. In this way we all share the costs of subsidising therapy to those who need it and cannot afford it. We are also proud to be a Living Wage Accredited employer.
The challenges and tragedies of the past year have highlighted the need for a range of mental health support for people who need it more than ever. Having established ourselves as a valued resource for local people, we hope to be still here to support our clients for many years into the future.Posted by
